I would like to populate a collaboration group with a set of names, possibly from the user groups which already exist.

The idea is to make collaboration group names based on department/function/division/any other arbitrary corporate organizational structure and just maintain the user group listing and have people move to and from the collaboration group based on the content of the user group list.This will allow (fill in your organizational structure here, eg departmental) mini-blogs as a means of communication in “near” real time while keeping the background message “noise” down for those not interested in a given department.

As an alternative a filter based on user group might also work: Show only messages from people in user group (fill in your group here).

This is an initial thought, have I missed some implementation detail that might be an issue?
