Any concerns using LDAP as a backing store for a non-hierarchical Vocabulary?
I have some existing key/value tabular data in LDAP that I would like to expose as Vocabularies in Nuxeo. Am I correct that this should not be problem since the SQL vs LDAP implementation details are hidden behind the Nuxeo Directory abstraction?

Yes that's the idea. Make sure you use caching in the directory configuration otherwise access will likely be quite slow.
